Pre – Apprenticeship Central Falls Carpentry
Community needs in the northern portion of the state brought a Latino Outreach Coordinator to our team in 2016, with a small amount of funding and community partner support, which allowed us to expand our reach across the entire state. Adding a training facility to Central Falls has done just that for us. The training center has allowed us to serve the immediate community of Central Falls and the surrounding municipalities for those interested in the industry.
Those wanting to learn a trade at no cost to them can do so with us; in addition to the technical trade skills individuals are learning, there are credentials they are earning. Those credentials include OSHA 10 Certification and Lead Safe Renovate and Repair, and Painting Rule (RRP) Certification, CPR & AED certification, and finally the HBI PACT certification.

Our training programs are designed to equip students with the skills and mindset needed to become competent, accountable, and reliable employees —whether they’re working on a jobsite, in a lab testing concrete, maintaining properties, doing electrical work or in millwork shops, or applying transferable skills in a new career within the industry.

Pre-Apprentice Training Programs for Carpentry, Electrical, and many more
As we’ve mentioned before, we look to give those foundational carpentry or electrical technical skills to the students who participate in our program, but we’re looking to have a healthier individual when they’ve gone through our program. Which is why we don’t stop at the foundational skill for the industry or the certifications you earn with us, but we add additional non-carpentry or electrical-related training.
Financial Empowerment Night is one of those additional trainings, which involves a Centreville Bank coming in and educating our students on some of the intricacies of banking. The Financial Empowerment Night also provides the entrepreneurially spirited students with some insights into commercial banking and how a good partner in banking is very important to succeeding as a business.
Pre-Apprentice Energy Weatherization Auditor, Installer & Performance Evaluator
Expanding our Pre-Apprentice Carpentry Program in collaboration with CLEAResult and Community Action Programs statewide, we offer a customized pre-apprentice training program for energy and weatherization auditors, installers, and evaluators.
This specialized program incorporates basic construction knowledge paired with building science to demonstrate how various components of a home interact to affect the overall performance.
Key skills for the energy and weatherization auditor are delivered to understand the relationship between the building envelope, heating, A/C, insulation, mechanical, ventilation, lighting, appliances, and other systems of the home.
Customized Construction Training Programs
Many specialized fields in residential construction require core competencies, one being basic construction knowledge, for example the collaboration with CLEAResult to develop a training program that provides skills and industry credentials to entry level candidates training to preform energy audits for Community Action Agencies that offer Weatherization Assistance Programs.
